EPC ratings explained: what your A to G band means
Every Energy Performance Certificate scores your property from 1 to 100 and places it on the same seven-band scale. Two numbers matter: where you are today, and where you could be.
Valid for 10 years
One assessment covers a decade of sales, lettings and remortgages — unless you renovate and want your improvements re-scored.
E is the legal floor for rentals
Letting an F or G rated property carries fines of up to £5,000. Regulations are tightening — most London landlords are now upgrading toward C.
